Cholesterol - is a substance produced by our own body and found in animal products (dairy, eggs and meat). Plant fats, are naturally lower in fat than foods that come from one of the other groups. But there are many products on the market today that are considered Low fat and labeled as such in various ways, non- fat, reduced fat, light (lite), and Lowfat. Meats could be labeled lean, and extra lean or as a percent 93% or 97%. While some cholesterol is a necessity for our health, too much could cause plaque in the arteries, or arteriosclerosis. Also known as hardening of the arteries.
