| Brownie’s Sausage Gravy the lower fat way | ||||
| Ingredients: | ||||
| 3 cups fat-free milk or
non-fat evaporated milk 6 tbsp. Wondra quick mixing flour 2 tbsp. light margarine 1- tsp. Dry mustard ¾ tsp. Salt Pepper to taste 1-1/2 cup shredded reduced fat cheese, or reduced fat Velveeta 1 lb. sausage, mild or hot Directions: Place flour in medium size pan, add salt, pepper, and dry mustard. Gradually stir in milk; heat all ingredients to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Add cheese; stir until melted into the gravy. I have found that making it the night before, it seems to gain flavor when heated for breakfast fun! Crumble sausage, and fry. Pour off grease, and lay sausage on a couple of layers of paper towels, pat it all with more paper towels, this removes most of the grease. Add to gravy. Spoon over hot, freshly baked low-fat Biscuits and serve up for Breakfast! Adapted to a lower fat version by: Lowfat Weekly.com
