The Food Pyramid is a general guide of what to eat each day, and is based on the Dietary Guidelines. The USDA Food Guide Pyramid shows we should eat a variety of foods to ensure   getting the nutrients and calories for maintaining a healthy weight. Using the Pyramid as your Dietary Guideline to put a variety of foods and nutrients in your daily diet, will help you eat more well balanced.

It's not that difficult to get the number of servings needed to maintain  a healthy weight. Many of us are already getting more servings of food at one time, than we realize.

~A good example of that, is eating Spaghetti, 2 ounces dry is about 1/2 cup cooked~

I must admit, I'm a great Pasta Lover! Especially after living in Italy for three years with my husband,  who was stationed there in the Navy. It's very hard for me to eat just 1 serving when I sit down to a Pasta dinner served "Al Dente" with my favorite Marinara sauce! On occasion, (when I'm really, really hungry) I will indulge myself and eat a cup. Which will give me 2 servings of the 6-11 needed from the Bread, Cereal, Rice, & Pasta Group each day.
